Reyes basket repair pricing*
Cane-bound loop replacement:
- Full set of six (6) loops plus full rim upper and lower rim binding: $660
- Back four (4) loops only (for baskets with ivory catches): $490
- Back four (4) loops plus front top catch (for baskets with ivory eyes): $575
- Splice in broken weaving (exceptionally brittle cane or very tight weaving can make this impossible): $35 per inch
- Only replace full binding (per rim): $75
All repairs include:
- Free cosmetic clean-ups
- Removal of top decoration (whale, seagull, shell, etc) for
polishing. Please note that if you have a top decoration that is screwed in, such as a Charlie Sayle ebony whale, I will NOT remove it.
- Wood refinishing (you may opt out)
- Fresh shellac
All new cane will be stained to match the existing patina of your basket.
*If you have a non-Reyes basket, especially one by Gibbs, Boyer, Bessette or Cifranic, repair prices will be significantly higher due to most of them being left-handed (I am not) and the sealers (polyurethanes) they used which make cane nearly (but not entirely) impossible to repair.
